Sephora Wish List

I love left over gifts, don't you?  Especially left over gift cards!
It's always more fun to shop when you aren't spending your own money.
I have a Sephora gift card left over from my birthday that is burning a hole in my pocket.
This is what I'm thinking I want to get with it so far.....

Sephora Wish list

It will use up the whole gift card and then some, for sure, but what do you think?
Are you loving any of these products?
Should I scrap any of these in favor of something else that is totally awesome?

Friday Favorites

TGIF party people!  Another week has flown by and my to-do list doesn't feel any smaller.  Summer syndrome perhaps?  Which is problematic, because summer time is when I need to be catching up on all of the stuff I haven't had time to get to the rest of the year!  (This would be the Chaos part of life, not the Cabernet part, although I drank plenty of it at a rehearsal dinner last night!)

Here are some of my Friday Favorites of things I have been loving this week!

Tart Deco.  I am loving on this Essie color right now.  My fingers and toes are sporting it.  And it just so happen to match my current handbag and cell phone case.  Whoops!

If you follow me on Instragram (and why wouldn't you!), you can see I speak the truth.

#GirlBoss arrived this week.  I was going to save it to read on the dock over the Fourth of July, but I couldn't help myself.  Two chapters in and I am loving it!

(You may or may not be noticing I have a serious addiction to this color.  In the Jewell world, it is called Stylist.  A pinky, coraly, awesome color!  Under #GirlBoss is my Designer Notes notebook
that holds on my entire life.)

New Rug.  Our family room has been in desperate need of a rug.  We still have a few more finishing touches to add, but this rug is making a HUGE difference.  We went with an indoor/outdoor rug because we figure it will hold up better than a normal rug.  Our backyard/deck is right off of the family room.  So between us and the dog, there is a lot of in and out that goes on.

What are your favorites this week?

Have a great weekend!

Wedding Wears

Summer is here and wedding season is upon us!  I don't know about you, but sometime it is down right hard to find the right dress to wear to a wedding.  Especially if you are, well on the curvier side.  I didn't used to be, but since I have put on many unwanted pounds, I've found dress shopping for special occasions to be the worst.

Personally, I have pretty good luck shopping at Macy's.  And they have the BEST customer service.  I've needed things ASAP and they've made it happen.  I've had help tracking down a dress in another store across the country because it fit me perfectly.  They are always willing to go the extra mile to help.  Again in my experience.  And when I'm shopping online, I love the options to help me narrow my search: Guest of Wedding, Rehearsal Dinner, Day Time, etc. to help narrow my dress search.

My hubby is standing up in the wedding we have this weekend, so I need outfits for the rehearsal dinner, the wedding & reception and a Sunday brunch.  I've put together some looks for all 3 events that I hope you will love and might make your wedding and event shopping a little easier this summer. Especially if you need a little extra coverage from a dress, like I do.

What are you wearing to weddings this summer?

This post is 100% my own opinion.  I was in no way compensated for this post.
 I just really love Macy's.   :-)

Currently in June...

Currently I'm...

Watching:  Suits is back on and I am (not so) patiently waiting for Covert Affairs. Next week woohoo!  I also just discovered Ladies of London on Bravo and it is absolutely going to be my guilty pleasure show this summer!

I've also recently jumped on the YouTube band wagon.  Here are some of my favorites I've subscribed to:

Pretty Shiny Sparkly, Essie Button, Fleur de Force, Travel Fashion Girl, and Brunette Beauty Blogger.

Recommending:  Maybelleine Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

These are such a great eye shadow for quick and easy summer make up.  You can swipe it on with your finger for a touch of color, or use it as a great base for more dramatic eyes.  I'm all about quick and easy make up during the day.  Especially during the week.  This creamy eye shadow doesn't crease (at least on me) at all during the day.  I can swear them on their own, or together.  The current shades I am hearting are Bad to the Bronze, Tough as Taupe, Pomegranate Punk, Bold Gold and Inked Pink.

Wanting these to show up on my doorstep: Kendra Scott Necklace, Hayden Beach Bud Pouch and this coffee mug.

Loving: These maxi dresses from Target.  I may or may not have 3 of them.  All in different colors of course!

Merona Women's Knit Maxi Tank Dress

Using:  My Jewell Scene Stealer in Cork as my go-to bag for weddings or just going out to dinner this summer.

Craving: Froyo!  It has been so hot here lately, all I want is a nice big bowl.  Now if only it would stop raining and the sun would come out!

Telling you to:  Go shopping.  Who me??? Be a shopping enabler?  Never!  But seriously.  You should hit up Bath and Body Works, if for no other reason than the candles are on sale!  So run, don't walk and stock up!  (I blame Erin and her Instagram post alerting me to this fact.)

Looking forward to: 4th of July, our anniversary and a full week off!!!  I am turning off work email and life for an entire week and I am suuuuper excited about it.  Now don't get me wrong, I am grateful for the certain amount of flexibility I get with my job, but I have not had a vacation yet this year where I haven't worked at least a little bit.  (I say this now but I'm sure something will pop up causing me to work a little bit.)

What's going on currently in your life?

Friday Favorites

TGIF!!!  Right?  Happy dance happy dance!  It is finally starting to feel a little bit like summer!
Here are 5 things I have been loving on this week as my Friday Favorites.
They all have a lil something to do with summer!

1). My Hot Pink Kitchen Aid Mixer

It's pink.  Need I say more?
I don't do much with this baby, but when I do use it, it is awesome.
One of my summer goals is to cook more, so hopefully I will learn to make more with this.
Last night I made Key Lime Pie (recipe coming soon).  The perfect summer treat in my opinion.
And it suuuuuuuuuuuuper easy to make.  Trust me.  If I can make it, anyone can.  I never don't often pat myself on the back about my cooking, but in the case of Key Lime Pie, mine is top notch.
Seriously.  I promise.  No I'm not joking!  It really is!

2).  New Summer Sandals

I went into Target for one thing......we all know how this goes!  I came out with a bunch more!  I walked by these and couldn't pass them up.  (Some people aka my hubby are probably wondering why I was wandering by shoes anyway.  But it's Target.  Ya gotta!)  They are such a great neutral with a pop of color, I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of them this summer!

Women's Xhilaration Sidney Sandals Multicolor

3).  PJ Pants

The heavy, cozy PJ pants were put away sometime ago.  I mostly sleep in shorts in the summer months because our master bedroom is right above the garage and it gets pretty warm during the summer months.  But sometimes, you just want to sleep and lounge in PJ pants.  These somehow made their way into my cart at Target this week and THEY. ARE. SO. COMFY.  Light weight, soft, the perfect summer PJ Pant. (Disclaimer: The pictures on Target's website make them look frumpy.  They are so much cuter on in real life!)

Gilligan O'Malley® Women's Challis Pant Assorted Colors

4).  SPF for Your Lips

Maybe I should have called this a Target Haul post?
All of my favorites this week same to be from the same shopping trip!  I like to have a lip product with SPF in my bag at all times, but particularly during the summer months.  For some reason this week, my lips have been SUPER dry.
Not sure what is up with that, but I am loving this Maybelline product I picked up this week.  At Target.  I have been making an active effort to buy and wear color for my lips, but a girl's gotta have the basics.

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm 0.15 oz

Finally, something else non-Target.  This has been a favorite of mine for awhile now.  I love it for mixing in with my morning smoothie.  It adds a little more protein, a little healthy fat and a whole lot of flavor.  The powder makes it so easy to throw in the blender!  Since I'm always on the go in the summer time, a protein smoothie/shake makes the perfect meal when I'm pressed for time.  And doesn't leave me feeling weighed down in the heat.

May 2014 Skin Care Favorites

Show of hands, how many of you feel like you are too old to be using acne skin care products?  I am really hoping I am not the only one currently raising my hand.  I don't know about you, but it is getting old (and so am I....ba-dum ching).  I want to use anti-aging products and not worry that they are going to make my skin break out even more.  So about 6 weeks ago, I decided to make a solid effort to take better care of my skin, in hopes that prevention would stop the breakouts.  Or at least make them less frequent.  So far so good.  It seems to be working!  These are the products I have been using recently, my favorite skin care products from May!

The first thing I did was use a gift certificate left over from from Christmas and headed to Macy's to purchase a Clarisonic Mia 2.  I've been hearing great things for awhile and decided it was time to bite the bullet and give it a try.  I can definitely say, all of the hype is true!  Since I started using it, my skin has become super soft and has definitely cleared up!  Acne Prevention?  Absolutely!  I've read that some people have a "purging" phase when they first start to use a Clarisonic.
Like their skin gets worse before it gets better because so much gunk is coming out of their pores.
I didn't have this experience, but fair warning, you might!

I love that this comes in so many different colors and has a great travel case, since I am always on the go.  A full charge lasts about 2 weeks, so I haven't had to bring the charger with me on my travels.  One less charger to pack is always a nice perk.

I used the Clarisonic brand cleanser that came with it for the first few weeks.  I can't complain about it at all.  I enjoyed it.  But it isn't exactly the easier product in the world to pick up when it runs out.

Enter my new FAAAAAAAVORITE face wash!  Biore's Deep Charcoal Cleanser.
Biore Deep Charcoal Cleanser - 6.7 oz
I can't tell you how much my skin has improved since I started using this!  Less break outs, smaller pores, just over all great skin!  I love love love it!

Which then of course, lead me to give their face mask a-whirl. And of course I love that too!  It's quick, easy and man does it work.  I usually leave it on a little bit longer than a minute, but it is so nice that I don't have to eke out a chunk of time for a face mask.
Biore Charcoal Self Heating Mask 4 count
Another difference in my skin care routine has been taking off my makeup before washing my face.  I'm love Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Cleaning Towelettes.  It takes 2 seconds for me to wipe everything off with these bad boys.  And (let's be honest) occasionally I will head to bed just swiping one of these.  But hey!
At least I took my makeup off, right?

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Refill Pack - 25 Count

Some of you may be thinking, man is this girl slow to the party!  I've been doing that for years!  Maybe I am a little slow, but wow what a difference taking off my makeup before washing my face has made.

In the last month or so, I can safely say my concealer is getting less of a workout because my skin has definitely improved!

So those are my May Skin Care favorites!  What do you use to keep your skin clear? I'm always looking for new products to try and any tips or tricks!

Welcome to Cabernet & Chaos!

Hi!  I'm Katie!  Welcome to Cabernet & Chaos, my little slice of the blogosphere.  If you are joining me from Really Reynolds, thanks for making the transition.  It felt like the right time for a change. Something different.  Time to shake it up a bit. So here we are.  If you are a new reader, thank you for joining me!

Cabernet and Chaos was born out of a love for (duh) wine and the love-hate relationship I have with my chaotic life.  There are never enough hours in the day, there is never enough sleep, it is usually total and utter chaos.  Isn't that what makes it fun?

A little bit about me:  I am a thirty-something (ouch that one hurt.  I was a twenty-something not that long ago!) living life with my hubby and our fur-baby Buoy.

Hobbies include: waterskiing, snowskiing, wine consumption, boat riding, spending time with family and friends, the beach, the lake - I'm pretty happy near any body of water -
(yup, I waterskied in my wedding dress!)

Things I love: anything pink, anything sparkly, handbags, wine, handbags, wine...did I mention handbags?

I also have a deep and profound loves for all things red and Badger related.

And caffeine.  Particularly coffee.  Gotta love the stuff.  Seriously, don't try to wake me up without a cup of it in hand.  I promise it won't be pretty.  Just ask my hubby.

So sit back, relax and take a deep breathe with a glass of wine (or insert beverage of your choice.  Water? Lemonade? Tea? Beer? Any other alcoholic beverage?  We don't discriminate around here!)

I hope you enjoy getting a little glimpse into my Cabernet and Chaotic world!
