Weekend Update: An ATV Adventure

Another summer weekend has flown by.  Seriously?  Where is the time going?  Why do weeks move at warp speed during the summer and the rest of the year seems to move at a snails pace.  Ok not really, but you get what I'm saying.  This weekend we had a fun little ATV adventure.  I've always had something else going on when some of the family has gone on ATV rides and I wanted to finally go on one.  So on Saturday, my parents and the hubby and I hopped on and off we went.  We didn't go very far.  Grand total we were out for a little over an hour, but we did have a lot of fun!

Good ole Wisconsin farms.

We rode down to a nearby river and discovered a great place to put in tubes for floatings.

After our little adventure, we spent the rest of Saturday hanging out down by the lake.  It wasn't the best lake day, but any lake day is better than no lake day.

Saturday night brought a new Pinot Noir into my life, Soul Sister from Save Me San Francisco Wine Co.  O.M.G. it is sooo good.
It's a very light Pinot Noir and it is so good.  I would highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy red wine in general and Pinot Noir in particular.

How was your weekend?

I'm always looking for a new wine to try, red or white, so feel free to leave me a suggestion
 in the comments!

Outfit Inspiration

I think we all have that one piece in our closet that we love, but never know quite what to do with.  I know I have more than one piece like that.  You know the one I'm talking about.  You saw it in a store, you loved it, perhaps it was super on sale so it made its way home with you.  And now that it is in your closet, you scratch your head and go hmmmmmm.  What do I wear with this?

I've decided to tackle one of those pieces of my wardrobe to see if I can make it work.  Otherwise, when I start going room by room to clean junk out of our house, it is going in the donate pile.  This may not look like a piece that is hard to fit in, but I'm having one heck of a time making it work.

You may be looking at this sweater/cardigan going easy peasy!  Why are you having such a hard time with this?  Well I'll tell you.  The shade of blue is basically navy.  And I never know what to do with navy.  Can you wear it with black?  And the cream color.? It doesn't work well against all shades of white.

So, I turned to Pinterest for a little inspiration.  Here is what I've found so far:

(Ignore the baby bump. I'm not hinting at anything, I just like the look of this outfit. Minus the bump.)

Now, to see what I can create out of my own closet using this inspirations. What do you do for outfit inspiration when you are stuck?

4th of July Week

Last week, we spent the entire week up north.  It was fabulous to not set an alarm, sleep in, sit in the sun, play on the lake and spend time with family and friends.  4th of July is probably my favorite holiday.  Not only is it a fun time with family and friends, but it is also a special time for me and my hubby.  Once, I told him I wanted to get engaged during the fireworks.  Well, that didn't work out.  He proposed on Christmas Eve day, which looked a little bit different but equally as awesome.  My hubby is definitely creative!  Here is how he proposed:

Three years ago, we got married 4th of July weekend.  Our anniversary is July 2nd, so it is always fun to be on vacation over our anniversary.  I’ve always LOVE LOVE LOVED fireworks.  Now I love that we get fireworks to celebrate our anniversary!

I did not take nearly as many pictures as I usually do, but here is a highlight reel of
what our week looked like.

Needless to say, Buoy is still exhausted.  How was your 4th of July?
Do you have any traditions you look forward to every year?

Sparkle. Shine. Shimmer.  Glitter. Glint. Glisten. You name it.  I love it.

Today, I am linking up with Lipgloss and Crayons and Still Being Molly for their new Link Up #LetItShine (formerly Monday Funday).

The lead topic this week is Sparkle.  We all know I LOOOOOVE ME SOME SPARKLE! (Or if you are new, hello my name is Katie and I am a sparkle-a-holic).  Send it my way!  My mother-in-law still thinks it is hysterical that her son, who growing up was embarrassed when she wore anything sparkly or blingy, married the queen of it.  She gifted me this AWESOME sparkly vest at our wedding rehearsal 3 years ago.  I wore it proudly.

One of many goals in my life.

Ok, brace yourselves, because I'm going to get serious for a moment.  Lately it feels like the sparkle has dulled a little bit.  There is a lot on my plate, and most of it is by choice.  Can I simplify?  Or remove some of it?  Does it all have to be there? And how the heck do I stop being a people pleaser and stressing myself out? These are questions I have been asking myself a lot lately.

Last week brought several challenges into my life.  Some old, some new.  All of them brought negativity.  And I am so over negativity.  At some point, I guess it becomes habit?  And that's not cool.  And it is not something I am proud of.  So, time to take a step back, re-evaluate and move forward.  I can only control the way I react to situations and people, so I am going to focus on that and re-find my inner sparkle and positive light.

Because seriously, what is there to be negative about when all this sparkle exists in the world!

I think we all could use a little more sparkle in our lives.  So #letitshine!
