August Ipsy Bag

Hello all!  And Happy September!  I'm pretty sure it's Happy September anyway.  Summer is officially over.  Usually that makes me sad, and I am sad because it means less time at the lake with family and friends, but honestly, the weather kind of stunk this summer.  After a freezing cold, record breakingly brutal cold winter, I was ready for some fun in the sun.  Instead, it was more like fun in and clouds, wind and rain with the occasional ray of sunshine.  Mother Nature just didn't deliver.  So I am ready.  Bring on the fall weather!  Cozy sweaters, boots, football, hot apple cider (and of course it's suppose to get to almost 90 here this week - go figure). I have zero pictures from this weekend because we didn't really do much.  We put away the fun summer toys and enjoyed some evening time with friends and family.  But that is about it.  Because of eh weather.  (Although I do have a fun jewelry haul to share with you soon, so stay tuned.)

So today, I'm finally getting around to a post that I meant to do last month.  Please forgive this August post in September.  Recently, I decided to jump back on the Beauty Box bandwagon to see if there have been any improvements.  A couple of years ago, I was all aboard the Birchbox bandwagon.  And it was fun getting surprise products in the mail every month, but then I got bored.  I wasn't super excited about or using the products I was receiving so I cancelled my subscription.

Since then, it seems a million different beauty box companies have popped up.  Some faded quickly, others have had staying power, so I decided to give them another shot.  After all, who doesn't need some travel size products around.  And at $10 a month, I can't buy many of my favorites for much cheaper.  So I re-newed my Birchbox subscription and also signed up for Ipsy.

Since Ipsy is new to me, I thought I would share what I received in August and my thoughts.

First of all, a shiny pink bag arrives in your mailbox each month.  Nothing wrong with that!

You also get a makeup bag every month, which I think is fun.  I can always use another bag to throw into my purse, gift to a friends, etc.  The orange polka dots is cute for summer, not to mention the fun travel size products that came with it.

This month I received:

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner // Urban Decay Perversion Mascara // J. Cat Beauty Flying Solo Eye Shadow // Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner // Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oak Milk

So far, I've had a chance to try out the Dry Shampoo (love!) and the Pores No More (score!)  I know I will use the rest of the products in this month's bag and will probably like them, so I'm calling this month a win!  This bag had lots of items that I always can use.

The only downside (at least so far in my opinion) is that there are several different combinations of products that get sent out every month, and there were other products I did not receive that I would have preferred.  There is a lot of hyper around several of them, and I was dying to give them a shot, like this Glamglow mask.  The grass many always be greener every month, but it is too soon to tell.

So far I would absolutely recommend giving Ipsy a shot.  I think you will find some new products you love.  And if nothing else, you will build up a travel beauty supply stash!

**I am in no way being compensated for this post.  Just trying to give you guys an honest opinion of something new I am trying.
