Wine Fun at a Dinner Party

Over the summer, we attended a dinner party and tried a fun little experiment.  I've been meaning to post about it for awhile but for some reason never got around to it.  So here we go! Finally!  You can obviously try this year round; it definitely is not a seasonal thing!

One Saturday we were out running errands.  The hubby needed something to do while I ran into Ulta, so he wandered into a new wine store.  It had recently re-branded and boy were we impressed.  They do wine tastings on Saturdays and we found several wine we liked.  Their prices are very reasonable and they are very knowledgeable about wine.

We picked out a few bottles from the tasting to take to an upcoming dinner party.  To be on the safe side, we grabbed a second bottle of one of the wines and accidentally grabbed a different vintage.  Here is where the fun begins (as if drinking wine in the middle of the day wasn't fun enough!).  The cashier suggested we do a wine tasting to compare the two!  And this wine shop will email you descriptions of the wine you have purchased.

So we brought the wine with us and started the dinner party with a fun, quick wine tasting.  It required no work other than bringing the wine and the descriptions with us.  After tasting each wine, we read the descriptions out loud.  I love wine but I don't have a delicate enough palate to taste the insert wine flavor here.  I just know what I like and don't like.  And of course, I can't remember which vintage I preferred, but I definitely preferred on to the other.  As a group, we were split down the middle but each of us had a preference.

So there you have it.  I hope this helps you spice up your next dinner party in an easy way!
