Weekend Update: The best surprise date night ever!

I have to start this post by saying, I am the luckiest girl in the world.  I am so blessed to have an amazing husband.  As horribly cheesy as this is, I had to share.  I saw this on Facebook, and no I did not share it on my wall.  Instead I'm sharing it on my blog. =)

My hubby knows that I'm not big into grand gestures for <insert the obvious here> Valentine's Day, Anniversary, etc.  I like small things randomly and just because.  The flowers that get brought home on a Wednesday, just because.  Or in this case, the surprise date night at home with all of my favorites.

I may or may not have guessed ahead of time, but it only made the surprise better because I got to make key lime pie to go along with it.  But I only guessed about the meal.  The rest of the night was a total surprise.  Friday night, I got home from work to this:

A beautifully set table using our Waterford wedding china and crystal and white roses.  I just love our table set with white roses.

To top it off, not only did my darling hubby have my favorite meal shipped from Florida (stone crabs), set a beautiful table using my favorite china, but he also got a bottle of my favorite champagne (Taittinger).

It was a completely extravagant, totally over the top night that was so special.  And that we decided needs to be repeated once a year.  Just because.

The rest of the weekend was relatively boring quiet in comparison.  Saturday we spent most of the day at school (aka my work) for a big basketball game.  I sold raffle tickets and helped with crowd control while my hubby took pictures.  We were both exhausted by the time we got home Saturday night and had a quiet night in of take out and a movie.

Sunday was also quiet filled with sleeping in, laundry and other household chores.  We snuggled in to watch the Oscars and called it a night.

Thank you again hubby for an amazing date night Friday night.  It was definitely one for the books.  Mwah.

Friday Favorites: Rose Gold

Last week, I alluded to my love of rose gold.  Is anyone else having the same love affair?  I know it's been around for awhile, but I just can't get enough.  (Especially as I begin to dream about spring.  And I do mean dream, since it is currently snowing with subzero wind chill.)  One look at my accessories and it becomes obvious.  My wallet, iPad case, jewelry, even my nails.  They all seem to coordinate right now with my love of rose gold!  I wish I could share with you my exact pieces that I'm loving, but many of them have come from the Kate Spade Outlet in recent months and are no where to be found on the internet.

Instead, I put together some other rose gold favorites that I am loving this month.  Some I have, some are wishlist, but one thing is for sure.  This girl can never have too much rose gold!

Are you loving rose gold as well?  What are your favorites?

Weekend Update: Greetings from Utah!

Even though it is Monday, my weekend is still going.  I hope for most of you it is, since it is President's Day!  We decided to take a break and stretch this long weekend into a REALLY long weekend of skiing on the slopes of Utah.  We are with my parents and cousin, and having a great time.

Friday night we landed and were greeted with dinner and wine, thank you parents!  Saturday we slept in a little bit and then spent a few hours skiing.  It was almost 50 degrees and sunny so conditions were a bit slushy, but we still had a great time.

Saturday night, we checked out a burger joint my dad has been raving about.  Even though I don't eat burgers, the food was delish.  There was some awesome live music as well. It was a great day and nice to be with so many Valentine's!

Sunday, I spent a few hours on the slopes with my parents while the hubby and cousin went off on a hiking adventure.  Even though I didn't hike, I did steal one of my hubby's photos from it because it was gorgeous.

Fortunately it is now Monday and our trip/long weekend is not over.  We are here for a few more days and I am so glad.  It is so easy to relax when you have gorgeous mountains out your window.

Friday Favorites

Hey all!  I just love a Friday before a long weekend!  I hope you have President's Day off and have some fun plans for the next 3 days.  I know it is going to fly by, but I'm looking forward to a break and some time with my family this weekend.  We are taking an extended long weekend.  5 whole days with no alarm.  Woohoo!  So on this very happy Friday, here are a few of my favorites!

1).  Young Living Essential Oils

Have you heard about them?  I am just beginning to dabble in essential oils, but am so excited!  I have heard some amazing testimonials and can't wait to be more familiar with all of their uses.  If you have any tips, tricks or oil combinations that you love, let me know!

2).  Kate Spade Denise Bag

Unfortunately, this bag is no where to be found online anymore.  I found it at Nordstrom Rack and immediately snapped it up.  It has been on my wishlist for a few years.  It's a nice not to big, not to small cross body or shoulder bag.  Did I need it?  Like a hole in the head.  But even the hubby agrees it is really cute.  And I did a massive bag clean out right afterwards, so at least it was one in, about 14 out.  So I'm calling it a win!

3).  Essie Penny Talk

I bought this nail polish before Christmas (thanks Pretty Shiny Sparkly for the recommendation!) and haven't had a chance to try it until this week.  It is a gorgeous, rose-goldy (which I'm obsessed with) coppery color.  Perfect for a touch of romance (and pink) for Valentine's Day.  I like it so much it's on my fingers and my toes!

4).  Rebel Ring

I have been loving this ring!  I don't think I have taken it off since I got it.  It's been a definite favorite this week!

5). Youngique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara.

Yup, I'm talking about this a lot this week. (You can win your own by visiting this post.)  This mascara is awesome!

Have a great long weekend!

Valentine's Day Makeup

Wow, Valentine's Day is creeping up faster and faster!  This year, we will be on the slopes and then going out to dinner with my parents and cousin.  It will all pretty casual, so I figured I better come up with a casual Valentine's Day look to go with it.  Since we will be traveling, I'm taking some of my make-up favorites with me.  Conveniently, they all are compact in size and travel really well!

Some ladies are all about the lips.  Me?  I'm all about the eyes.  I love a good smokey eye, but the one thing I can't live without?  A good mascara that really makes my lashes pop.

Enter Younique.  It's not a brand I was very familiar with until lash pictures started to pop up in my Facebook newsfeed.  And my immediate reaction was, ok.  How do I get my lashes to look like that!  Well, my friend Lea Ann showed me exactly how.  3D Fiber Lashes Mascara from Younique.  Here are my before and after shots to show you how well this mascara really works.  This is definitely in my rotation of favorite mascaras now!

It will definitely add some pop to your Valentine's Day makeup!

Lea Ann is offering you guys this awesome February deal, in addition to giving one of you your own 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara to try!  Happy Valentine's Day to my favorite readers!

This sweepstakes is open to those 18 and over.  U.S. residents only please.  The winner of the Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara will be selected at Noon on Monday 2/16/2015.   Good luck!

PS - Even though Lea Ann was awesome enough to send me the mascara to try, these opinions are 100% my own.

Friday Favorites: Valentine's Day Gift Giving

I still can't believe January is over, let alone the fact that it is almost Valentine's Day!  Which will mean that February will be half over and that 2015 is already racing by.  This year, there were some more practical needs vs. fun Valentine's Day gifts.  The hubby already got me my Valentine's Day gift: a new printer for my office.  I know, glamorous and romantic.  But I'm super excited about it and boy did I need it.

For those of you looking for some fun and frivolous gifts (in my opinion, the best kind) here are some of my favorite gift ideas that you can pass on to your hubby, significant other or just go buy yourself something fun because you deserve it!

Valentine's Day Gifts for Her

A Weekend of Snow and Stella & Dot

Well hello there!! 2015 has started off with a bang and a blur! I can't believe January flew by without a single blog post. Shame on me! I promise I didn't forget about you and am hoping to return to our regularly scheduled programming in February. I have lots to catch you up on, but let's start with this weekend, shall we?

My weekend got extended into a 3 day weekend. We had almost 19 inches of snow fall in about a 24 hour period, which was crazy and lead to a snow day yesterday.

I had a very busy work week last week and the hubby abandoned me for warm weather and sunshine at a conference in Miami (that rat). So needless to say, we laid low this weekend. Friday night we watched Gone Girl, and while I thought it was a good movie, after all of the hype I was expecting something phenomenal. Good, but not amazing. Maybe if I had read the book first?

Saturday and Sunday were spent enjoying a few lazy moments and getting projects done around the house.  We were going to gosee American Sniper Saturday night, but neither of us really felt like going out.  And once the snow started falling, that sealed the deal to stay home.  Then we shoveled.  A lot.  (This picture wasn't even half way through the storm.  Buoy could tunnel through the snow by the time it was over.)

In other exciting news, over the weekend I took and plunge and became a Stella & Dot Stylist! I have loved their jewelry and accessories for a long time now and decided it would be a blast to join one of my girlfriends and start on a new adventure!

I want to extend a special offer to all of my blog readers.  If you are book a Virtual Trunk Show with me (or an in person one if you are in the Chicago-land area), in addition to all of the fabulous free and half priced hostess rewards you can earn, I will also throw in a pair of earrings!

My Valentine's Day gift to you, since I love you all very much!  I'm so appreciative you stop by my little corner of the internet.

One more special offer and then I will be quiet.  Because this is too good not to share.  A new adventure is always more fun with a girlfriend!  I would love to have you join me.  This special offer (that I took advantage of) was extended until tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4th.  You have nothing to lose by taking a leap!

I'm going to fly!  So come fly with me! (Yup.  That was uber cheesy!  But true).  Can you tell I'm excited?  I had a blast starting to explore Stella & Dot over the weekend and I can't wait for my kit to arrive!  I'll be sure to post all of the goodies I picked out!

So that is my snowy, Stella & Dot filled weekend in a nut shell.  How was your weekend?  I hope you have a fabulous week ahead and don't have to shovel any snow. ;-)
