Summer Bucket List

With Memorial Day weekend come and gone, it is finally starting to feel like summer.  Maybe a little too much.  It's graduation night tonight and hundreds of people are going to be crammed in the gym at school and it's 86 degrees out.  #mothernaturefail

Summer always seems to fly by at warp speed.  I'm usually left scratching my head going, I know I wanted to get some things done...... In an attempt to make the most of summer, I thought a bucket list might help keep me focused on all of the fun (and not so fun) things I want to do this summer.

1). Take a Beach Vacation - I put this on there because we have one planned in June.  It's always nice to be able to put a check mark next to one thing.  It can't get here fast enough!  We almost never take vacations just the two of us (ok three of us because you know Buoy gets to come along!) and are very much looking forward to this one.

2).  Do More Hiking - There are so many neat trails up north that are so pretty, I want to explore more of them.  Clear the head, get some exercise and enjoy nature all at the same time.

3). Have More Bonfires - We have a fire pit in our backyard that has been used once and a pit at the lake that hasn't been used in years.  I love sitting around a bonfire with an adult beverage and s'mores.  This needs to happen more often this summer.

4).  Finish Spring Cleaning - Not everything on my bucket list is fun, but I will feel so much better when this project is done.  I knew some of Spring Cleaning was going to have to wait until summer.  I have a few more closets and the basement still to work on and then I can feel like our house is cleaned out and organized.  For a nano-second at least.

5).  Eat Outside More Often - We have a beautiful backyard and we need to enjoy it more!  The goal is to eat outside a few nights a week, when we can!

6).  Play Tennis - Both the hubby and I played tennis a lot when we were younger.  But I haven't touched a rack in probably 15+ years. We now have access to tennis courts and have decided that we need to get back into playing.  Which obviously means not only do I get to shop for a rack, but cute tennis clothes!  #winning #anyexcusetoshop

7).  Cook More Often - Whaaaat?  I know, right? I mentioned this last week but I genuinely would like to learn to enjoy cooking.  I think if I get more comfortable with it, I might not differ to the hubby all of the time.  He really likes cooking, but it's not fair for him to be 100% responsible for it.

8).  Read more - I am a pretty good reader.  I usually read a little (or a lot) before bed every night.  But I have a stack of books  that I can't read right before bed because they get my brain going.  Which is not the desired effect before heading off to dream land.  I have enough troubles getting my brain to shut off at night!  In another week, I start a very nice job perk of summer hours.  We got part-time for most of June and all of July.  It is glorious.  I am hoping to be found outside with a book at least a few afternoons a week.

So there you have it.  My Summer Bucket List.  Have you made one?  What is on yours?

  1. Hiking and going to the beach are on my list too! I didn't include finishing Spring Cleaning, but I need to do that as well. I'm so jealous of your fire pit! I would be using it almost daily!

Stopping by from the link-up :)

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! The fire pit was definitely a selling feature for us! And then life just....kind of gets in the way. Ya know? Definitely need to take advantage of it more often!

  3. I love that your summer bucket list is a variety of productive and fun things as well as small and large things mixed in. You reminded me that I really need to do one. As a teacher, I tend to put off things like organizing closets {and the basement... AHHHHH the basement} until summertime and then it rolls around and I decide I'd rather go out on the lake or sleep in or something. Really gotta get some of these things checked off this summer! Happy weekend, lady!

    1. Thanks Claire! I have the exact same struggle! Now that I've been in a school for two years, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can actually take advantage of downtime to make the next school year a little bit easier. It's like running a marathon at a sprint pace for 9 months out of year. Looking forward to things slowing down.

    1. LOL I think I am probably the exact opposite of most people. Have to take advantage of time when we have it, right! Maybe I will finally try my slow cooker!
